Last week we went on our annual Ski Dawgs ski trip. It’s hard to believe that we have been doing this for 19 years! Allen and I love these trips. One couple (this year it was us) plans a trip for 15-20 friends at a different resort every year. We try to alternate driving and flying and we are lucky that there are so many great ski areas within driving distance! AND…we love our little darlings but no kids are allowed on these trips. It’s a great break for all of us!
This year, though, we planned a flying trip. We went to Vail and Beaver Creek. Wow! We had weather to please everybody. Cold and sunny the first day, snowy day too and sunny and warm day three. Just incredible…and so were the ski areas. I am a big fan of steep and groomed and boy did I get my wish!
Here are some pictures from our adventure. Beaver Creek had some really funny signs…
Yes…I know how perfect this sign is for me!
This was one of my favorite runs. Super steep and groomed. This is NOT the run I hit my max speed on (see below) because it was so steep you really had to dig your edges in just to stay upright.
At the end of the day, at the base of the mountain, dozens of bakers come out of the lodge with huge platefuls of cookies. We couldn’t miss THAT experience!
The college friends we travel with are full of dentists and engineers and such. So this new app we found for our phones kept us endlessly entertained with all the data we could compare. It’s true, I’m a bit of a speed demon (no surprise if you have ever driven with me).
We’ve been home for just a few days but we can hardly wait until next year!
