That’s one of Grayson’s favorite words these days. He’s two and asserting his independence in a big way. He is not stamping his foot or saying it in a sassy way, he is just simply answering questions. Sarah (Mom): ‘Gray, want to bring that rock over here?” No. (Said in a tone that sounds more like ‘No thank, I’m happy to stay over here.’)
Hunter (Dad): ‘Hey Gray, why don’t you come over here and sit next to me?’ No. (Said in a tone like ‘If it’s all the same to you, I’m going to keep playing in this puddle.’)
The key to these little guys is to ask a question where we can live with either answer. Me: “Grayson, would you like to stand on this wall or sit on that rock?” Rwdik! (After some translation I was told that he’d picked the rock.) The hard part, of course, is when Grayson strays from the script. Sarah: “Gray, do you want to hold my hand or Daddy’s hand?” Both options are good, right? Gray’s answer? “No!”
