A lesson in patience. That is what Jill just finished. A lesson in will power too. In June Jill decided that she wanted to save her money to earn an iPod touch. All summer she has been saving her money and dreaming about all of the apps and accessories she would get for her new treasure.
Then we got the worst news possible. In early September Apple announced that they were releasing the fourth generation of the iPod. Right now! Yes, of course there were all sorts of great new features. BUT, all of those features came with a hefty price tag. All of a sudden Jill needed to earn an extra $55 to get her beloved touch. That’s like running a marathon only to have them move the finish line back an extra six miles. So close but no cigar! She REALLY picked up the pace by babysitting for all the neighbors during curriculum nights and some random babysitting gigs on the weekends.
But she did it. (And on my birthday to boot!) On Saturday we all went to Costco together to watch her make this monumental purchase. She had her own personal cheering section. (Kate actually did spend a fair amount of time chanting ‘Go Jill! Go Jill!’) We are so proud that she worked hard and saved her money.
Now if she could just teach Cooper how to send his own emails we’d be golden!
PS – The other girls were very excited too. Since Jill got her Touch, the trickle down theory of economics was in effect. Ellie bought Jill’s old Nano and Kate bought Ellie’s old Shuffle. Allen and I were shushed (in extremely loud voices) in the front seat as the girls all rocked out in the back.
