I don’t go on location to shoot family pictures very often. Mostly because I set my appointments back to back, but also because I like to have more control over the lighting situation. Since I’d been to Lida’s house numerous times I knew how beautiful her yard was and I also knew I’d be able to find plenty of nice shady greenery to use as a backdrop. Here’s the funny part. Kyle was not so fond of using all that greenery as a backdrop. He knew that all he would see in those pictures was weeding that needed to be done. Two years ago when I put him in front of some nice shady greenery at the park he was just fine with it, but that was because it wasn’t HIS weeds. I totally understand that and so appreciate his honesty. I want to make sure I get pictures EVERYBODY likes.
It was fun seeing Ty and Justin in their natural environment. (Sounds like they are zoo animals, eh?) Since we were on their turf I got to photograph them doing the zipline or running their bikes over a jump they had built the day before. I also got to photograph them with their pets which was fun too.
I think that shot above is one of my all time favorite shots of kids with their pet. My lovely assistants were key in capturing that shot. I had Kyle to my right holding a canvas umbrella to shade Rex and the boys and Lida was jumping behind me making high squeaky noises to get all their attention and perk up their ears. Okay, the squeaky noises were mostly for Rex but don’t Justin and Ty look perky too?
Here are my favorites…
