Ellie has been asking for a new umbrella for six months. Her last one had died and untimely death and she was really hoping for a replacement. Last week during her shopping night I finally relented because I just couldn’t resist the polka dots. As we were driving home from our trip I told Ellie that now that she had a new umbrella (we got one for Kate too) that she could walk to school every day instead of just the nice one. Her reaction? ‘Wait…WHAT?!?’ I love that she didn’t even see that coming!
Ellie is my style girl. She loves clothing and loves shopping so we spent a nice long time checking out what Justice had to offer. Unlike her sister who can’t be bothered with the clothes, Ellie wanted to see it all and pull together some outfits. She even TRIED ON multiple outfits to decide. Most of the outfits and accessories were built around a new pair of shoes we bought just for the school year. Bright purple converse high tops. But really….doesn’t everything go with bright purple Justin Bieber hightops?
Our next stop was McDonalds. I swear this kid exists on air most days. She is a super picky eater and would rather go without than eat something she doesn’t like. (If I had that tendency I wouldn’t have to spend so much time at Weight Watchers!) BUT, give her something she likes and she can really pack it away. Ellie ate 6 six chicken McNuggets and a LARGE fry. I should check her pockets before I do the laundry because surely she could not have swallowed all that.
We ended our night with a quick stop at Old Navy for some jeans and popped into Target so she could pick out her special treat for the evening. She checked out the toy aisle but our $10 budget prohibited the purchase of any new legos. Instead, she opted for a more upscale, 5th grade version of what Kate got. Ellie chose some lovely lip gloss from the cosmetic section and a pink faux croc wristlet from the handbag department. Very chic!
Ellie is looking forward to find out who her teacher is and who is in her class. For Miss Social these two factors, ultimately, will decide how her year is going to go. We find out in two weeks. We’ve got our fingers and toes (in the Justin Bieber shoes) crossed!
