This year I surprised the girls with our new, last day of school tradition. Pedicures! What better way to start off summer then getting your toes ready for flip flops?
On the first day of summer break we also tried out a friend’s annual tradition and I think it was a big hit. Each of us (Allen and I got to pick too) got to pick a movie and a snack to go with it. That means that the kids, including all the neighbors, watched five movies, in their jammies, and gnoshed on delicacies like banana muffins, sour gummy worms, Swedish fish and gummy fruit slices. In between flicks I made the kids go next door and do a pajama jump in the trampoline for a half hour before we started the next one. I’m not too surprised that the girls lasted through all the movies. The novelty, alone, of so much TV in a day was enough to keep them in their seats. The boys, however, are normally much more active. They did check out during the Justin Bieber movie (fabulous by the way) but they stuck around for all the rest. I suspect part of their motivation was the cool snacks for each movie but who am I to judge?
Stay tuned next week when I share my new Internet obsession. This is going to entertain me, and hopefully my kids all summer!
