This year Ellie has been into all sorts of Super Heros. She wore a Spider Man shirt for the first day of school and was Batman for Halloween. We also gave the girls Superman, Ironman3 and Guardians of the Galaxy for Christmas. (The movies, not the actual people.) So, yeah, it was pretty easy to pick a theme for her birthday party!
This was a fun one to pull together. I love the bright primary colors that are normally associated with super heros so it was easy to find different patterns to set the table. I also love little milk bottles so when they popped up in the Target dollar section I jumped on them. To help them fit the theme I added a cape. If only it were that easy to become a super hero!
Since this is a popular party theme there are a lot of free printables available online. We used those to help decorate the cake and some of the candy bowls. I also searched Google images to find comic book pages. I printed them on cardstock, rolled them into cones and filled them with popcorn.
Before the girls fired up the super hero movies (they managed to watch Guardians of the Galaxy and parts of Thor AND Spider Man) we sent them out on the scavenger hunt. Allen did an excellent job with the clues. Here are a few:
The green lantern… A super hero or something used for camping. You decide which the enebo’s may have in their house to find your next clue. (Found in the camping supplies in the garage.)
For your next clue you need to head back to the home base before the dessert thaws. Speaking of thawing, captain america went through a special process which saved his life and prevented aging. Your next clue may be found where humans prevent things from getting warm. (Found in the ice maker.)
Almost done. Nick Fury and the Avengers are headed to dinner … beef shwarma anyone? Your final clue can be found where this would be prepared. (The girls found their treasure in the BBQ.)
This last clue we all find particularly funny because we text pictures of beef shwarma whenever we see it.
Ellie has this great group of friends and I love that she has really expanded her group this year. So good to go into high school with a great network!
Ellie’s real birthday is next week during winter break so stay tuned for her birthday portraits…
