I am just not ready for a total sleepover. I can’t imagine having tons of little girls all giggling, watching movies, making crank calls, playing ‘stiff as a board, light as a feather’, and dipping sleeping hands into cups of hot water. Oh wait, that was what we did at the sleepovers I went too!
For Ellie’s birthday party we invited four of her good friends (along with her sisters) and their American Girl Dolls to come in their jammies and stay until just before bedtime. In preparation for the party Ellie sewed (with my help and my sewing machine) sleeping bags for the dolls. To start the party off, the girls got to decorate overnight cases while their dolls looked on.
Allen put together a fun scavenger hunt that took about 37 minutes longer than we anticipated. I guess our house is too big!
We watched the Kitt Kitteridge movie while the girls handsewed pillows for their dolls and took a short intermission for cupcakes (yes, more gumdrop flowers) and presents.
Ellie was absolutely giddy all day and we were so worried that her party wouldn’t live up to her lofty expectations. But she was still giddy the next day so I guess we did it! I think it was all due to the wonderful girls who helped us celebrate.
