One more guest blog post before I jump back into regular blogging. My beloved Mr. Fun had an experience of a lifetime when he went to Arizona to cheer on our Seahawks at the Superbowl. Here is his story…
Everyone has a bucket list, right? Well this month, I was able to “check-off” one of the most significant items on mine… The SUPER BOWL! I have never actually made a list and I have been fortunate to do a lot of really fun things. But, I have never come close to something that would arguably be at the top of it. All my life, I have dreamt of going this Game; talking with friends about what it might be like, regardless of who might be in it…. Well folks, I am happy to say that dreams do come true.
Everything lined up this year for me to make an epic journey to Phoenix to see my beloved Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl. It was not an easy or simple trek but the adventure to get there, the hunt for tickets and then game itself made the trip…. Priceless!
Saturday was a blast, from talking with people about getting tickets (Nobody had them) to the NFL Experience! We spent all day downtown looking for tickets and participating in an interactive area that the NFL puts on for kids, young and old. We were able see tons of historical NFL items, Super Bowl rings, be drafted in the NFL and even a get a Gatorade shower.
I must admit one of the most precious things we got was a bag of Skittles! We Seattle fans have been hearing about these limited edition Super Bowl Skittles for 2 years and Dave and I lucked into 2 bags.
Sunday came and we still did not have tickets… a couple of close calls earlier left us doubting that we would actually make it inside the stadium so we began making contingency plans. Since this ended up being the most popular Super Bowl in history we got in line with 500 other people (mostly) Seahawks fans at 9AM to get into a great bar, The Yardhouse. We did not realize how perfect this was going to be. It gave us a fighting chance for tickets since it was right outside the stadium and provided a place for many of the people we knew to meet us.
The drama for tickets continued all day, when finally we finally struck gold only 1.5hrs before the game started!!! Dave and I stuck together all weekend as we increased our budgets so we could realize our dream.
Our seats could not have been better… the goaline in front of all the action, from he opening play, to the Kearse catch and then the fatal pick! Dave and I screamed at the top of our lungs but the Hawks came up short, in possibly the best Super Bowl ever played. I would love to change the final play, but it was phenomenal to be there with Dave, while both of us completed one of the top items on our Bucket Lists.
Thanks Dave for sticking with me on the emotional roller coaster. It was Epic!
