Is definitely going on my blog. Last week I flew down for one day (crazy!) to attend WPPI’s Expo. That stands for Wedding and Portrait Photographer’s International. Each year WPPI puts together a HUGE expo where classes are taught, products are shown and lots of parties are attended. Since I haven’t been for a few years I really thought I needed to get down there to put my hands on all the new products being offered to photographers. Seeing them on the internet just doesn’t do them justice!
So my day started with a 6am flight out of Seattle and didn’t end until I landed back in the Emerald City at 1am the next day. I learned a lot, saw a lot, and I’m still trying to catch up on lost sleep!
I so enjoyed the fact that it was almost 80 degrees. It was nice to take a break outside when my brain was on overload.
When you walk around the show room floor you never know what you are going to see. Routinely there are brides and bikini clad girls walking the showroom because they test out all sorts of lighting and camera equipment in the booths and do ‘live’ photoshoots.
I saw these folks first thing in the morning being worked on but my brain didn’t register what was happening. I saw this finished product walking around in the afternoon and had to grab a quick shot of it. I’m pretty sure all she is wearing is a thong and he’s just wearing boxer briefs. The rest is paint. (I was so distracted by this couple that I missed the shot of Elvis walking through!)
I rode the plane down with a bunch of WSU Cougars on their way to spring break. Not really how I wanted to start my day. Pretty sure this glass belongs to one of them by the pool. The owner was dead asleep next to it. (Not sunbathing but sitting upright in a chair.) Saw lots of versions of these glasses and this was the smaller one. People, if you need a strap to carry your glass it is TOO BIG!
The MGM Grand is who was hosting WPPI. That means there were 16,000 photographers walking all around. In addition to that they were also hosting the Pac-12 Basketball Tournament in an onsite venue that holds 13,000. That is one BIG hotel! (Go Dawgs!)
All in all I learned a lot and saw a lot. Be on the look out for some fun changes!
