A few years ago I was looking for a way to volunteer with my photography. I heard about Pictures of Hope on a message board and I thought this might be a fun way to give back. Their mission is to provide complimentary, documentary style photographs to babies in the NICU. I signed up and waited and waited. In the mean time I became quite busy with Soulumination taking pictures of children with life threatening illnesses and I love that. Soulumination is a much more coordinated effort with the hospitals and case workers. (In order to protect their non-profit status I cannot post any Soulumination pictures but Pictures of Hope requests that we do, so yipee!)
That is why I was so surprised when I got an email from Tracy out of the blue. She told me she’d found me through the Pictures of Hope website and was hoping that I could come and photograph her baby girl. Actually, I was going to be photographing little Miss with her big brothers. All SIX of them! I have to admit that I was a little intimidated by the sheer amount of boy energy that was going to be in that room. Turns out I had no need to worry. Those boys could not have been better behaved. Seriously, it warmed my heart to see how great the older boys were with the younger ones and how they all wanted to hold their little sister. I’m not sure what secret sauce Bill and Tracy are using to raise their kids but I’d like to get my hands on some!
This post is going to have a lot of pictures in it because this is the first time the family gets to see them and I know they can’t wait. This isn’t even half of what I will eventually be giving them. There are just too many cute ones!
