So we’ve been watching all of this goat landscaping around the neighborhood with great anticipation. When would it be our turn? When could we plan our wine and goat cheese party? When will we have our own version of Old McDonald in our backyard?
Unfortunately Murphy’s Law stepped in. The ONLY weekend we were all gone in July was the very weekend the goats came visiting. Since I left at the crack of dawn Friday morning I missed their arrival. Guest photographer Allen grabbed these first shots to show how massive the job was for the goats.
I was happy to find that the goats were still there when I got home late on Sunday night so on Monday morning I took MY shots before they were all loaded up and taken to the next spot.
It was so interesting to watch them. There were MANY different kinds and they are such funny creatures. Half the time it felt like they were watching US instead of us watching THEM. (I almost wanted to apologize for disturbing their breakfast!)
When it was time to be loaded up, farmer Tracy brought her dog into the action. She’d yell ‘Away to me!’ and her dog would spring into action herding everybody towards the truck. I felt like I was watching the movie Babe. That dog was amazing! I was hoping Cooper would pick up a few tricks, but this was his view. I guess he better keep his day job.
As you can see from the pictures, those goats were quite good at getting rid of all the weeds. They also ate up all of my new favorite backdrop so I guess I better keep MY day job too!
