Last week I read a little tutorial on Instagram pointing out the tilt shift feature. I’m not one to push all the button on an app. I figure what how to do what I want and leave the rest alone. I miss out on so much that way!
The tilt shift feature is the cute little teardrop in the upper right hand corner. You can either choose to hace a circle (which you can move around the screen or resize with the finger pinch) in focus or a bar. Neat!
So last Saturday, while we were visiting Allen’s family, I decided it would be fun to practice while capturing the days activities. Did I go overboard with this feature? Yup. Did I get the sharp parts sharp? Nope. But practice makes perfect.
Here is what we did. We started out the day with a stop at the Inlet on the way to Seabeck. It’s amazing how the water comes all the way up to the road way. The other amazing thing we saw that day was no less than 15 bald eagles. There were adults and all sort of baby eagles (eaglets?) learning how to fly. Of course most people were taking pictures of the beautiful scenery or the eagles. Me? I’m shooting all the people shooting the landscapes! As my sister-in-law pointed out, I’m a people photographer!
Next we headed on to a day hike that Wanda had planned for us. It was a beautiful hike through the woods that left us hot and hungry so ice cream was the carrot that got Kate (and Dean truth be told) back to the car in one piece.
After our hike the girls and Deana and I took Cooper to the beach for a swim.
Finally we had a great dinner and some down time that included playing Skunk, blowing bubbles, climbing and swinging in the trees.
Now that I’m seeing these pictures in a format bigger than my phone I see that I definitely need more practice. Maybe we can do it all over again next weekend!
