Baby Henry was born on Tuesday so we picked up our staycation on Wednesday. On this day we did the A#1 thing on our list. The Duck Tour. The girls had heard about this tour (in old World War II amphibious vehicles) from their friends and they were eager to partake in a trip with quackers and a driver that wears silly hats.
The girls learned a TON about the city and even Allen and I picked up a few tidbits. Did you know that when Boeing first started in was both an airplane manufacturer AND an airline? The government felt this was too much of a monopoly so they made them sell the airline. Any guess as to which present day airline that was? If you guessed United you should give yourself a prize. (I think chocolate would be appropriate.)
After the duck tour we trekked across the street to the Space Needle. Can you believe that we have never taken our kids to the top? Actually, now that we have done it I know that we can pass on this for the foreseeable future. While Allen and I thought it was fun to have such an amazing 360 degree view, the girls could have cared less. ‘When are we going inside?’, ‘When are we going back in the elevator?’, ‘When are we getting ice cream?’. We forced everybody to stay up there for 45 minutes (we had to get our $60 worth!) then quickly retreated to the nearest ice cream stand. This next picture was taken on a timer. Not bad, eh?Guess what? Turns out I’m a big fat liar. You are going to have to come back on Saturday to hear about our last day.
